Something we have not covered? Ask us; a real person replies.
Ask on WhatsApp (opens WhatsApp in a new tab)How much does a Northeast India tour package from Guwahati cost?
Every Smarto journey shows an estimated price for two for the whole trip, from ₹28,500; Smarto Exclusive journeys start from ₹48,000 for two. Your final all-in quote depends on your dates, hotels and group size, and that is the price you pay.
What is included in a Smarto tour package?
A private car with a Smarto driver for the whole journey, your hotels, daily breakfast, all transfers and sightseeing on the route, and end-to-end planning, as one all-in bundle.
What is not included in the package price?
Flights and trains, lunches and dinners, entry and activity fees such as safaris and boat rides, permit fees where needed, and personal expenses.
How many days do I need for a Northeast India trip?
Short escapes run 3 to 4 days, enough for Shillong and Cherrapunji; mid-length journeys run 5 to 7 days; extended journeys of 7 to 12 days cover Tawang or several states. Tawang alone is roughly 430 to 500 km from Guwahati and is best split over two days each way.
What is the best time to visit Northeast India?
October and November are the best overall, with clear weather and open roads. December to April is also good: colder in winter and greener in spring. June to September is the monsoon, when Meghalaya's waterfalls are fullest but roads can be slow.
Can I customise a Smarto tour package?
Yes. Every journey can be reshaped: dates, pace, hotels and route. Or start from scratch with a custom trip on WhatsApp.
Do I need a permit to visit Arunachal Pradesh or the Northeast?
Indian visitors need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur; Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura need none. Foreign nationals need a Protected Area Permit for Arunachal. Smarto plans the permits into every Arunachal journey and tells you exactly what we need from you.
Can I visit Bum La Pass in a Smarto car?
No. Bum La Pass and other sensitive areas in Arunachal Pradesh allow only locally registered vehicles, so you hire a local Tawang taxi for that day. The Bum La permit comes from the Deputy Commissioner's office in Tawang.
Are there group departures for solo travellers?
On selected journeys: fixed dates, a shared coach and private rooms. Solo travellers can join without a supplement.
None of these quite right?
Every journey here can be reshaped: dates, pace, hotels, route. Send what you have in mind and we will come back with a plan.
